ABOUT THE Chandrakhani pass trek
Chandrakhani Pass is one of the most beautiful and serene pass, at an altitude of 3660 m located in the Kullu valley. Chandrakhani Pass offers fabulous views f the Deo Tibba peak, Pir Panjal and Parbati range of mountains.
The trek is one of the most beautiful treks that introduces the traveler to the remote, hilly cultures of Himachal Pradesh. The scenic beauty of the Kullu valley, and the mountain peaks that dot that horizon is a treat for the nature lover throughout the journey. The region is also known as the Valley of Gods. Legend has that Jamlu (the presiding deity at Malana), opened a basket containing the gods of Kullu at the Chandrakhani Pass and the strong winds blew the gods to their present abodes.
DAY 1 - Arrive at Naggar - Travel to Rumsu - Trek to Ghankari
You arrive at Naggar, which is at a distance of 21 km from Manali and proceed to Rumsu via taxi. Rumsu
is at a distance of 5km from Naggar. From Rumsu head up the ridge to the east of the village and follow a
well defined trail through a forest of deodar, pine and horse chestnut, Trek further to reach Ghankari.
Dinner & overnight stay in tents.
DAY 2 - Trek to Chakhlani Camp Site
Begin your trek with an uphill 4 km trek from Ghankari to reach meadows, which will be located at an
elevation of 3000 m. From the meadow, you can get a glimpse of Manali, Kullu Valley, Pir Panjal Range
and Bara Bhangal Range. Further, you will pass through small rhododendron forest and series of alpine
meadows to reach Chakhlani. Dinner and overnight stay at Chakhlani.
DAY 3 - Trek to Chandrakhani Pass - Return to Chakhlani Camp Site
After breakfast, start trekking uphill for an hour to reach Chandrakhani Pass. From the pass, you can see
the impressive view of Ghalpo Peaks of Lahaul- Dharamsura (6446 m) and Papsura (6451 m) and the
other high peaks in the upper Tosh valley. After a relaxing break at Chandrakhani Pass, you will start
trekking downhill to reach back to the Chakhlani campsite. Dinner and overnight stay at Chakhlani
DAY 4 - Trek to Rumsu - Return to Naggar
After breakfast, start trekking back to Rumsu, where Taxi will be awaiting to take you back to Naggar
